Flowering phenology and flo ral biology in pumpkin cultivars

چکیده

Phenological events, in particular, flowering phenology and aspects of floral biology help to understand therelationship plants with their pollinators. Thus, this study sought estimate, under semi-arid conditions, the relationshipbetween different genotypes pumpkin or winter squash (Cucurbita moschata Duch.) environment, ofreproductive biology. Four cultivars were evaluated three productive cycles, measuring variables daily flower emergence, stigma receptivity, anthesis time morphometry pistil staminate flowers. The production male flowers washigher than female a higher proportion third cycle characterized by air temperature andlower relative humidity. Among cultivars, ‘Jacarezinho’ ‘Sergipe’ presented highest lowest values flowerproduction, respectively. Female remain open longer stigmas receptive until flowersclose. Considering morphometric data, there is positive association between petal length corolla diameter, andbetween access nectar anther size, difference cultivation conditions.

Flowering, Sex Expression, and Fruiting of Pumpkin (Cucurbita sp.) Cultivars under Various Temperatures in Greenhouse and Distant Field Trials

Field production of decorative pumpkins (Cucurbita pepo L.) in New York occasionally results in markedly delayed fruit production in spite of normal vine growth. These episodes of fruitlessness appear to be associated with periods of high temperatures. To determine the link between temperature and pumpkin flowering and fruiting, a series of multilocational field trials and confirmatory greenhou...

Multigenerational Effects of Flowering and Fruiting Phenology in Plantago Lanceolata

Phenological patterns of flowering and fruiting can be influenced by the effects of reproductive time on seed production. We propose here that these patterns are also influenced by phenological effects on offspring quality. Furthermore, we hypothesize that there are cross-generational trade-offs between parental and offspring components of parental fitness influencing the evolution of reproduct...

Flowering phenology, fruiting success and progressive deterioration of pollination in an early-flowering geophyte.

Spatio-temporal patterns of snowmelt and flowering times affect fruiting success in Erythronium grandiflorum Pursh (Liliaceae) in subalpine western Colorado, USA. From 1990 to 1995, I measured the consistency across years of snowmelt patterns and flowering times along a permanent transect. In most years since 1993, I have monitored fruit set in temporal cohorts (early- to late-flowering groups ...

De novo transcriptome assembly of two contrasting pumpkin cultivars.

Cucurbita pepo (squash, pumpkin, gourd), a worldwide-cultivated vegetable of American origin, is extremely variable in fruit characteristics. However, the information associated with genes and genetic markers for pumpkin is very limited. In order to identify new genes and to develop genetic markers, we performed a transcriptome analysis (RNA-Seq) of two contrasting pumpkin cultivars. Leaves and...
